San Saba-Cherokee Loop

Activities Available:

Here is a relatively easy trail that will take you through a large portion of southern San Saba County, previously known many, many years ago as the home of the Buzzard’s Hole mob. Most of the county roads north of San Saba are set out on a grid pattern so we suggest heading out to the southern portion of the county for a more relaxing, ambling scenic drive. Head south on Live Oak to 1031. ·Stay on 1031 and it will turn into 424 and it takes you to 501 where you will turn to the right.·Follow 501 through Cherokee (Cherokee Grocery Store) and continue heading west until you come to CR 310 (also known as Wallace Creek Rd.).·Turn right on CR 310 and follow it to CR 346.·Turn left onto CR 346. It could get a little tricky back here with the signs, but stay on the same road (do not take 362) and follow it to 2732. If you get lucky there will be signs directing you to Sloan.·CR 346 should take you to Sloan where you will turn right onto 2732 and follow it a short distance to CR 308 where you will turn to the right.·CR 308 will run into 1030 where you will turn left and that will take you back to San Saba.If you are up near San Saba ways you might also want to check out the suspension bridges in the county.
