350 Crossing

Activities Available:

This crossing is located at the intersection of County Road 350 and the fascinating Frio River, which is also called Mager’s Crossing. This could be a good swimming hole depending on water levels. This site also could be used as a put in or take out point for a short kayak trip (located ~3 miles downstream from the 1050 crossing and ~4 miles upstream from the nearest River Road/348 crossing, which also is known as the Third Crossing). If you paddle the run from 1050 to Mager’s Crossing you will have to contend with the dam and plenty of flat water at Garner State Park. If you paddle the run from Mager’s Crossing to the Third Crossing you will encounter a waterfall that will require some paddling experience or else you could take a swim, but this a nice stretch of the river. From US Hwy 83 going south from Leakey, turn left (east) onto 1050 and then right on CR 350 and follow until you find the crossing. An alternative spot to go for a swim is over at Garner State Park if the water here is too low. Andy’s or Happy Hollow should be able to help you with river flow, parking and shuttle information and they can rent you some kayaks as well.
