1120 Crossings

Take US Hwy 83 south from Leakey and turn left (east) onto 1120 and that road will take you to two crossings. These crossings are potential swimming or wading spots depending on the water levels, and the second crossing is a good put in for kayaks (~4.5 miles upstream from Garner State Park). Watch out because there might still be some concrete blocks and rebar at the 1050 crossing that you would want to avoid. In case you haven’t heard, they call it the Frio because it is a spring-fed stream that is very clear and very chilly. Parking and access are OK, but you might have to walk a bit to get to the river. Call Josh’s Frio River Outfitter for river flow information because the water can get pretty thin out here at times. Josh can also help you with alternative put in and take out spots and with kayak rentals. If the water level is too low here you could try Garner.
