This is a small tree shaded Uvalde County Park that offers tent camping, swimming and fishing opportunities on the sparkling spring-fed Nueces River — a terrific watercourse on the western edge of the Hill Country. This place appears on some of the top ten lists of swimming holes primarily because the water here is cool, clean and there is a dam on the river at the adjacent crossing that creates a pool and a downstream play area.  The park is located three miles south of Camp Wood on State Hwy 55 and they also have RV pads.  This is a pretty little drive up campground, but you should know that the campsites are fairly small and close together so you might want to grab a few extra ones just so you have enough room.  The photo on the website is of the pool that is formed by the dam.  Contact the Clear Creek Outfitters for paddle trip information up around these parts because the stream gages often don’t convey much useful information about water flows.
