Turkey Creek Nature Trail

This is a great place to bring the dogs because you can let them off the leash so they can run around on this large looping trail near Lake Austin. You probably will cross the creek a few times while on this trail so be sure to choose appropriate footwear. After you finish here you could go to the nearby City Park (Emma Long) if you want to go for a swim. Heading west on FM 2222 from Austin, take a left onto City Park Road and look for the sign.

We had the perfect hike with our puppy at Turkey Creek Nature Trail today. There was water flowing in the creek and the temperature was crisp and cool with sunny spots. All the dogs we met on the trail were super friendly and it was a nice length (2.8 mile loop). The parking is convenient, you don’t have to pay to use it, although we would have, gladly. There are plenty of refuse bag dispensers and people for the most part picked up after their dogs. So happy there are still a few off-leash parks around.
