This is a popular water recreation location in Kingsland on RR 3404 off of RR 1431. This place can be especially scenic early in the morning and late afternoon when the sun is low to the horizon and the light is bouncing off of the huge amount of exposed granite in the area. This can be a good place to do that folding lawn chair submersion maneuver we used to kid folks about before giving it a try, and it has made several top ten lists of swimming holes although there really isn’t a whole lot of places to do any actual swimming here. Even though there isn’t much swimming going on here it still is a nice place to come play in the water. Do not get stuck in the sand. Dogs are OK if kept on a leash. If you prefer deeper water you could always head downstream to the Lake LBJ area.
