Activities Available:
Camping, Fishing, Hiking Trails, Mountain Biking, Pet Friendly, Swimming HolesAt this 745 acre state park you can choose from over 80 campsites, many of which have electricity and water. They also have a nice area for walk in primitive camping and you only have to walk about 100 yards to get to it. You also can fish, hike, go mountain biking on four miles of trails, and after all that hop into Onion Creek for a swim during your visit at the park. One of the better places to get in the water is at the Upper McKinney Falls. This is another of those parks that are a great place to visit when the water levels are up and it is close enough to Austin so that you can come out for just the afternoon if you don’t have much time to spend away from home. However, Onion Creek is not always flowing so you might want to call ahead or check the stream gages before you come out. Take 183 south from Austin and turn right onto McKinney Falls Parkway and look for the sign about three miles down the road.
