The cavern was formed as a result of water cutting through the limestone formations in the area approximately 280 million years ago. Portions of the caverns previously were used as a dance hall and for religious services. There is a guided tour available that takes approximately 1.5 hours. There are hiking trails at the park as well and you will be close to the Inks Lake State Park if you want to go for a swim. The State Park is located approximately 6 miles west and 6 miles south of Burnet, Texas on Park Road 4, off US Highway 281.
