Lion's Club Tube Rentals

The club offers tubes for use on this very popular portion of the stupendous San Marcos River and they shuttle visitors from the take out point at the Rio Vista water park back to the rental office. This river is very flat so you won't have to worry about any rapids throwing the youngsters off of the tubes if you are looking for a place to bring the kids. You will need to watch out for local teenagers who like to “cannon ball” from the bridges and you probably want to avoid having the younguns float down the chute at the dam. Please be sure not to dislodge any of the Texas Wild Rice while you are floating down the river. If you are seated on the water taxi and it is crowded watch out or someone is bound to step on your feet. From IH 35 take Aquarena Springs Dr. towards campus. Turn left on Charles Austin a little before you get to the river and follow the signs. One other thing, when you get off the shuttle watch out or you could get smacked in the head with a tube. Those high school kids unloading the trailer can be a little mischievous at times. You will be real close to the San Marcos River Pub and Grill at the take out point if you want to hang out by the dam and have a beer when you finish tubing.

This is a pretty old school set up. A concrete block building full of inner tubes and an air compressor and except for the counter and the restrooms that is about all there is to it. The thing is, you do not need anything else to start your tubing trip. Watch out when you exit the water taxi when you get back to the office or you might get hit in the head with a tube.
