Activities Available:
Camping, Fishing, Kayak Trails, Pet Friendly, River Outfitters, Swimming HolesThis primitive campground is located on the Llano River just west of Castell off of State Road 152. Be sure to contact the owners of this private campground before coming out this way so you can make arrangements for a camping, paddling and swimming weekend and be sure to ask whether the fish are biting. If you don’t have your own boats they also rent kayaks for you you to use around the Castell area, which is a fine place to paddle the Llano when the water is up. Ask these folks about the runs down to CR 102 and CR 103. When the water is up this is a really nice stretch of the Llano River, which means this is also a nice place to camp. The best access to the water is at the downstream end of the campground. There is nothing fancy about this place and you need to make sure you know where the campsite is that you are renting because they are not well marked, but we like it here. Another thing, during the off season you might be the only group here so keep that in mind when you are planning a trip. Dogs are OK if kept on a leash, although that rule is not always strictly enforced as is the case with the “quiet time” rule. Finally, the outhouse facilities are pretty primitive if you know what we mean so plan accordingly.
