This campground features several shaded campsites and faces a really nice limestone bluff that sits across the Guadalupe River. However, you need to get here early if you want one of the better spots. Some good tent campsites are 113, 114, 59 and 60. Of course they have tubes available for rent at this campground in case you want to float the river. This place is located between the 1st and 2nd crossings on River Road outside of New Braunfels and upstream of the Stairstep Rapids, Huaco Springs Rapids and Slumber Falls — careful with those locations on the river or you could end up out of your tube. You should also check on the availability of trout before you head this way because you might want to bring your fishing gear. RV sites also are available if you are not into tent camping. They might be able to suggest some put in and take out locations for a kayak trip as well, but be sure to ask about the river conditions before heading out because the water can be pretty thin when the releases from Canyon are cut back. You should also know that this is a pretty popular area for tubing if you are thinking about bringing the kayaks out for some paddling. The River Road Ice House is located nearby if you are looking for something to do in the evening after spending your afternoon on the water.
