This park has made several top ten lists for places to go swimming. There are numerous campsites at the park and it has hot showers and 16 screened shelters — love those screened shelters. It also has a lighted fishing pier and over 6 miles of trails available for hiking and mountain biking. Take State Hwy 16 leading south from Kerrville to State Hwy 173 and follow it to the park. They have some cabins with bunkbeds if you want to re-live your youth and they rent canoes and tubes. There are a lot of options for fun at this park so be sure to get out here early before all the good places are taken. Billy Gene’s is fairly close by if you would like to stop in for a beverage.
