This is a scenic 6 mile run of the Llano from 2389 or the James River Crossing over to Martin’s Crossing or 1723. This part of the river also is used often by fly fishers. If you want to park your vehicles downstream and paddle to them, contact Homer Martin about using his place for parking. Also, you might want to contact Hemphill Insurance (aka Rock Bottom [our favorite character in the Felix the Cat cartoons]) in Mason for more paddling information regarding this area and they also can rent you some kayaks. They should be able to give you good information on the best way to shuttle back to the vehicles. This run recently was recommended by Texas Monthly as one of the 20 best in the state. From Mason, take 87 south, turn right on 1723 and turn right on 2389 and follow it to the stream.
