This sprawling 3,500-acre ranch is located south of the serene town of Mason and has three miles of lovely Llano River frontage with really nice cliffs overlooking the water. That is a whole lot of frontage folks and it will sure come in handy regardless of whether you are camping or staying in the cabins located on the property. In addition to nature viewing, available activities include fishing (perch, bass and catfish), mountain biking, swimming, primitive camping, canoe/kayaking and hiking. With all that water this is a darn good place to go do some primitive camping. You should know that tent camping is not available in the fall because the property is reserved for hunters at that time. The Old Peanut Mill is located relatively close by if you want to go hang out on their patio. Call ahead to get details and to inquire about bringing pets onsite. The folks at Rock Bottom in Mason can rent you a kayak if you want to go paddling. From US 87 at the southern Mason city limits, follow RR 1723/Simonsville Road. Go 9 miles to the ranch entrance, which is 1/2 mile south of the Llano River.
