Enjoy the Texas Hill Country

Located about 4 miles downstream from South Llano River State Park, this is a good area to use as a take out for a short (~ 2 hour) kayak trip originating in the park, for wildlife viewing purposes, for wade fishing, or for swimming if the water levels are up. Take US Hwy 377 south from Junction and turn left onto Flat Rock Road (the road to the Texas Tech Campus). Be sure to contact the park or Junction area outfitters such as Meacham’s for river flow information because the stream can get pretty thin at times. They also can give you additional information regarding alternative put in and take out points and can rent you a kayak. If the water level is too low for you at the crossing consider going over to the South Llano River State Park.
